I didn’t start Elara because I wanted to build a company. I started it because I couldn’t find care that actually cared.
Like so many women, I found myself stuck in a system that felt impossible to navigate. Appointments were rushed. Concerns were minimized. I couldn’t even find a primary care doctor who had the time or willingness to look beyond surface-level symptoms and ask why.
I was bounced between offices. Passed between providers. Given answers that never fully addressed what I was feeling in my body or how disconnected I felt from myself. Every visit felt colder than the last. Clinical. Transactional. Like my health was a box to be checked so someone could move on to the next patient.
I wasn’t looking for perfection. I was looking to be seen.
Instead, I felt invisible. Like I belonged nowhere in a system that was supposed to help me. My health wasn’t being explored, and my confidence certainly wasn’t being protected. It felt as though no one was interested in understanding what was actually wrong, only in closing the chart.
That question stayed with me:
What would healthcare look like if women were truly cared for?
That question followed me until I began working at a medical spa. And there, I witnessed something that changed me forever.
I watched women walk through the door carrying years of self-doubt, shame, insecurity, and quiet hopelessness. Women who had learned to make themselves smaller. Women who had been dismissed for so long that they stopped asking for more.
And then-I watched them transform.
Not just physically. Emotionally.
Their posture shifted. They spoke with confidence. They applied for jobs they once felt unqualified for. They went on dates again. They wore clothes they had been avoiding. They stood taller. They laughed more freely. They looked in the mirror, and for the first time in a long time, they looked at themselves with kindness.
Through treatments like GLP-1 medications, acne care, and corrective therapies, the changes were visible, but what mattered most was what couldn’t be measured.
I realized something powerful in those moments: When women feel better in their bodies, they don’t just look different. They live differently.

And I couldn’t unsee it.

I decided to build what I couldn’t find.
I navigated pharmacy negotiations. Built relationships with provider groups. Asked hard questions. Took meetings no one wanted to take. Learned the system from the inside out, because I refused to accept that women deserved anything less than thoughtful, intentional, human care.
I gathered the right team. I fought for standards. I jumped in without a parachute.
And Elara was born.
