FAQ
How does progesterone care through Elara work?
You complete a private online intake and medical questionnaire. A licensed provider reviews your health history and determines whether progesterone may be appropriate before anything is prescribed.
Will I be charged before I am prescribed?
If you prequalify, a temporary hold may be placed on your payment method while your provider review is completed. If you are not prescribed, the hold is released and the charge does not complete.
Do I need insurance?
No. Elara is designed with self-pay options, and eligible purchases may support HSA or FSA payment methods.
Who reviews my intake?
Your intake is reviewed by a licensed provider from Elara's partner physician group, Wasef Health.
How do I know if I qualify for progesterone?
Eligibility is based on your health history, which a licensed provider reviews before anything is prescribed.
What are the side effects?
The most common are drowsiness and dizziness, which is why the capsule is usually taken at bedtime, along with breast tenderness, bloating, headache, mood changes, and spotting or a change in your bleeding pattern. Contact your provider promptly about a sudden severe headache, a change in vision, chest pain or shortness of breath, pain or swelling in one leg, or yellowing of the skin or eyes, and message the care team about anything else that persists.
Who should not take progesterone?
It is not prescribed to anyone with a known or suspected hormone-sensitive cancer such as breast cancer, undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding, or a current or past blood clot, stroke, or heart attack. Your provider also reviews liver disease, migraine, depression, whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and every medication and supplement you take, before deciding whether this is appropriate. Tell your provider about a known allergy to any ingredient.
