Will I be charged before I am prescribed?
If you prequalify, a temporary hold may be placed on your payment method while your provider review is completed. If you are not prescribed, the hold is released and the charge does not complete.
Do I need insurance?
No. Elara is designed with self-pay options, and eligible purchases may support HSA or FSA payment methods.
Are video visits required?
Visit requirements depend on your state. Some states require a live video visit, some require a live initial visit with online follow-ups, and most states allow a fully online process.
Who reviews my intake?
Your intake is reviewed by a licensed provider from Elara's partner physician group, Wasef Health.
How do I know if I qualify?
Eligibility is based on your BMI and health history, which a licensed provider reviews before anything is prescribed. Most women find out quickly whether they qualify.
Will I face side effects?
Most women do well on GLP-1s. Some notice nausea, constipation, or a smaller appetite while the dose is increasing, and these usually settle as your body adjusts. A slow, steady titration guided by your provider is the best way to stay comfortable, and if your stomach needs extra help, your provider can add short-term anti-nausea support such as ondansetron (Zofran).

Who it may not be right for
GLP-1 medications may not be suitable for people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a history or high risk of pancreatitis, with severe gastrointestinal disorders such as gastroparesis, with a known allergy to the medication or its ingredients, or with uncontrolled diabetes, thyroid disorders, or severe liver or kidney disease without medical clearance. If you are unsure whether any of these apply to you, our providers will review it with you before anything is prescribed.
Common side effects
Most side effects are mild and tend to appear early in treatment. They can include nausea, reduced appetite, constipation or diarrhea, mild injection-site tenderness, headache or fatigue, and dizziness. Your provider will talk you through how to manage these.
When to seek care
Some symptoms need prompt medical attention. Seek care if you experience severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, swelling in the neck or trouble swallowing, or signs of an allergic reaction.
